Sizes

Baby (6-12 months): 14" circumference x 8" height

Toddler (1-3 years): 16" circumference x 8.5" height

Child (4-10 years): 18" circumference x 9" height

Instructions

Cast on 96 stitches with the main color yarn.
Knit in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) for 2 inches.
Begin the cable pattern:
- Row 1: Knit 12, cable 6, knit 12, cable 6, knit 12, cable 6, knit 12
- Row 2: Purl all stitches.
- Row 3: Knit 6, cable 6, knit 12, cable 6, knit 6
- Row 4: Purl all stitches.
- Repeat rows 1-4 for the desired length of the hat.
Shape the crown:
- Row 1: *Knit 12, cable 6, knit 6*
- Row 2: Purl all stitches.
- Row 3: *Knit 6, cable 6, knit 6*
- Row 4: Purl all stitches.
- Repeat rows 1-4 until there are 24 stitches remaining.
Cut the yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull to close.
Sew the side seam of the hat.
Make the bear ears:
