Materials
- Worsted weight yarn (100g/218yds per skein)
- Size US 8 (5mm) knitting needles
- Yarn needle
Sizes
- Newborn: 12-14" head circumference
- Toddler: 16-18" head circumference
- Child: 18-20" head circumference
- Adult Small: 20-22" head circumference
- Adult Medium: 22-24" head circumference
- Adult Large: 24-26" head circumference
- Adult Man: 26-28" head circumference
Gauge
20 sts and 28 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch
Instructions
- Brim: Cast on 96 (104, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144) sts using the long-tail cast-on method. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist the sts. Knit 1 round.
- Cable Pattern: *K2, C6F, K2, C6B, K2, C6F, K2, C6B, rep from * to end of round.
- Continue Pattern: Rep Row 2 until the beanie measures 2" from the brim.
- Decrease: *K2tog, K6, rep from * to end of round.
- Continue Decreasing: Rep Row 4 until there are 72 (80, 88, 96, 104, 112, 120) sts remaining.
- Shape Crown: K2tog around, being careful not to twist the sts. Pull yarn through the remaining sts and fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in any loose ends. Turn the beanie right side out and block to shape. The beanie can be washed in cold water and laid flat to dry.
